The D1100 Digital Preamplifier is a reference level stereo preamplifier and digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Its 8-channel, 32-bit DAC is used in Quad Balanced mode with half of it dedicated to the left audio channel and the other half to the right channel. It’s the most advanced DAC we’ve ever used and delivers an unprecedented level of performance so that all your digital music is reproduced with exceptional accuracy and authenticity.
Description
Enough inputs – 9 to be exact – are included to keep even the largest digital system connected as 3 optical, 3 coaxial (2 RCA and 1 BNC), plus 1 each of MCT, AES/EBU and USB inputs are on board. The USB input accepts up to 32-bit/384kHz signals and supports DSD64, DSD128, DSD256, DXD 352.8kHz and DXD 384kHz playback1. All the other inputs accept up to 24-bit/192kHz. The MCT input is a McIntosh exclusive and allows for enjoying to the high resolution audio found on SACDs via theMCT500 SACD/CD Transport. Three sets of balanced and unbalanced stereo outputs connect the D1100 to your system. One set of outputs has fixed volume while the other 2 have variable volume; the variable outputs can also be switched on and off for additional user configurability.
The D1100 is designed for ease of use: all inputs can be renamed; its 4 data ports and 4 power control triggers are fully programmable; and it has both IR and RS232 external control. For personal listening, Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®) will bring a new depth and spatiality to your music.
The D1100 is a full featured, fully functional self-contained unit that can be used independently of any other preamplifier. But thanks to McIntosh’s engineering prowess, it can also be connected to and used in tandem with its analog equivalent, the C1100 Vacuum Tube Preamplifier2. Combining the two together with the included umbilical cable creates the definitive analog and digital stereo preamplifier. When connected, the C1100 takes over all control of the D1100 resulting in a single and easy to use interface. Like the C1100, the D1100’s left and right audio channels and power supplies are electrically isolated from each other to produce true dual mono operation when used either by itself or with the C1100. This isolation delivers absolute stereo separation and sonic purity.
The D1100 is one of many McIntosh products to receive Roon Tested designation from Roon Labs. It has been profiled and tested by both Roon and McIntosh for maximum compatibility. Roon will recognize it and send it audio optimized for its capabilities. No fiddling with checkboxes or dropdowns, Roon Tested devices are automatically identified and configured out of the box for a superior customer experience.
It’s housed in a beautifully polished stainless steel and hairline brushed black Titanium stainless steel chassis – the same as the C1100 so the two will seamlessly blend with each other if used together. A black glass front panel, blue meters, knobs, an illuminated logo and brushed aluminum end caps complete the ageless McIntosh look. It can be paired with a variety ofamplifiers, room correction devices, speakers, CD players, streaming audio players and other source components to make a complete home audio system.

Indeed behind the usual original design the new Logos MKII hide the introduction of a series of new solutions some thought in order to further enhance the sound of the amplifier and others to meet the demand for versatility and practicality that a demanding clientele pretends that is also present in a high-end device.

Specially designed EI transformers for power supply and two EI output transformers with wide bandwidth are applied. Handmade construction with the finest point-to-point wiring and special audiophiles components has carefully been selected by our designers.

Pathos Ethos
Pathos Ethos: Integrated amplifier (HiDac Optional)
The edged exterior of the Éthos does not provide any clues about how to control the amplifier. Like with the Logos to operate the Éthos is a hit and miss trial and error affair. Both recessed buttons on the front panel are difficult to access and they carry no marks or descriptions. The remote controller (by the way very elegant slick piece of metal) will not help a lot as it also has just anonymous buttons. Either a user looks into the amp’s manual or just presses something to see what it does. This is a kind of trade-off for the clean Italian design,
Other than that the Éthos is built with great attention to detail, the selection of parts, craftsmanship and internal layout scream with quality and care. I loved the amp’s heatsinks that are cast in the shape of Pathos’ logo.
The central part is occupied by a turquoise alphanumeric display that is dimmable. The power switch can be found at the rear panel and there is no need to power the amp off as it stays in a standby mode at idle, A ‘progress bar’ on the display will inform you that the Éthos is waking up – it takes no more than 30 seconds before all circuits are stabilized.

The Adrenalin amplifier represents the point of arrival of the INPOL (“Inseguitore a Pompa Lineare” – Linear Pump Tracker) concept.
The essence of such an apparatus is that of a tube amplifier featuring a very sensitive and refined timbre, combined with a surprising and amazing output capacity.
It really seems that Pathos designers and technicians achieved their goal: an iron fist concealed in a velvet glove.
InPol (Inseguitore Pompa Linear – Linear Pump Follower) is a system patented by Pathos Acoustics which has enjoyed great success and won many awards.
Inpol devices have a special sonic personality obtainable only by means of this particular circuit design – fully balanced in Class A using a single solid-state component in follower configuration, with high current gain and with voltage gain together. The valve amplifier amplifies the input signal voltage and InPol supplies the current to drive the loudspeakers without any further amplification. In this way, the signal is entrusted to the valves and becomes a true copy of the original, with all the quality, purity and harmonic content of the original.
This technology allows an increase in the theoretical output in pure Class A of between 25% and 50% together with a low output impedance which is fundamental for the damping factor and further improved by the double InPol.

Is the latest creation from Pathos, so-called because in the design Pathos presents the 2nd generation of their proprietary INPOL® technology.
It is also a completely balanced dual-mono configuration – easily recognized by the styling.
INPOL®, which carries a worldwide patent and gave birth to the multi-award winning products TT and InPower, has undergone advanced evolution.
The INPOL2 is a unique amplifier in many aspects and its sound quality will simply astound.
