Our most advanced cd, digital audio and network streaming player yet
In a sense, digital audio doesn’t exist. You’d have to be a particularly dull superhero to possess ears that can decode the millions of 1’s and 0’s that make up your CD collection or iTunes library. Whatever the source – be it a laptop, CD player, smartphone, USB stick – the result is just a vibration in your speakers. In other words, it all winds up analogue in the end.
Arguably, when playing from a digital format, the most vital component is the DAC, or Digital to Analogue Converter. We’ll spare you the bulk of the science, but this is what translates that otherwise lifeless binary code into audible sound energy. Bit-depth, meanwhile, is a key measure of audio quality.
So, if you’re listening to a 24-bit WAV copy of your favourite album through a DAC that only converts to 16-bit, there’s a good chunk of detail going to waste right there. That’s why we’ve included 32-bit DACs on the entire HDA range – the most commonly used bit-depth in digital recording – so you’re guaranteed the full aural picture of whatever the artist intended.
Arcam re-entered the audio DAC market with the introduction of the rDAC a few years ago. This concept was not new to Arcam as we were the first company to launch an outboard DAC way back in 1987. Building on the rDAC’s success and incorporating feedback from enthusiastic rDAC owners it was clear that our engineering team could produce an enhanced design that would raise the performance bar and improve ease of use by a significant margin over the rDAC. This was followed and further improved upon with the irDAC.
The NW-T/DSD is a new outstanding Network-Transport design with its “tube buffered digital output stage”. The Network-Transport can be connected with any external DAC or CD-player with a digital input (DAC section). Special attention was paid to the tube-power supply and the digital output signal, because this digital interface is significantly involved to achieve “analog-magic” sound properties in the external DAC to a large extent. The NW-T/DSD was designed to maintain all advantages of a tube (in the power supply as well as in the digital output stage) in combination with streaming. The NW-T/DSD uniquely unifies both and offers a new dimension of sound far above its class.
DSD Upgrade kit for existing NW-T’s 995 Euro

In 2011 Ayon Audio has set a milestone with the S-3: the first network-player with top-class vacuum-tube technology worldwide, separate DAC section and an analogue preamp section. 6 years later we present the successor S-10 and it was created to embody, in more advanced technologies and very flexible player, all the know-how and expertise acquired developing our reference Network-Player products. The S-10 includes a network player, computer playback, analogue preamp, a world class PCM/DSD Digital to Analog converter and a PCM – DSD converter for all PCM signals that gives an outstanding sound performance that you would expect from an Ayon product. The S-10 is based on a modular platform and can be composed variably. There is a variety of choices available.
Of course, there are again a modern puristic and tonal significantly decisive tube output stage and a newly developed fully symmetrical dual mono DAC.
Its spacious 3D image combined with an enormous agility and stirring reproduction are only a few trademarks unified in this exceptional device.
This tube based network-player represents a new sound performance standard in its price category.
Additional Parts Pricing:
- Analog Preamplifier. Quad electrical-analog volume control sustem with 2 pair analog line inputs. 495 Euro
- Signature. PCM-DSD converter for all PCM signals (DAC, USB and Streamer) Mundorf Gold/Silver capacitors 1495 Euro
The S-3 is a ground-breaking design and this ultimate combination of modern new design and time proven concepts, will deliver music and superb sound performance that you would expect from an Ayon product with maximum home audio flexibility. The S-3 includes a network player, analog preamplifier and a world class D/A-converter that gives the highest obtainable performance.
Many of our clients have asked in the past for a more affordable Network-Player based on the famous S-3. The downgraded S-3 “junior” version is the answer and offers many design highlights from its bigger brother, the S-3.
One of the major changes at the S-3 “junior” are the power supply system and the tube output stage.
We did the downgrading very carefully and the S-3 “junior” version offer maximum flexibility and a top sound performance in its price class that you would expect from an Ayon product with.
We are proud to introduce a sonically breath-taking model that may be the most musical and musically accurate Network-Player, the tube based S-5. The S-5 offers new dimensions of transparency and holographic. It immediately shows a large soundstage, greater transient speed top-to-bottom, purer resolution of low-level detail and expanded dynamic contrasts, with more bass slam, definition and extension. Compromise was not built into the S-5 design.
